At the top, at 2,877m, you can enjoy the most beautiful panorama of the Pyrenees! A major attraction for 130 years, the Pic du Midi de Bigorre is a high mountain site accessible to everyone throughout the year.

NEWS ACCESS TO PIC DU MIDI

From 8 July to 1 November 2024, due to restructuring and extension work on the Hôtellerie des Laquets building, access to the Pic du Midi via the Col du Tourmalet or after Lac d’Oncet from the Col de Sencours is prohibited for pedestrians, all vehicles (including bicycles and mountain bikes) and horse riders.

Access to the Pic du Midi is therefore only possible by cable car from La Mongie.

A much revered astronomical and meteorological observation site.
you will discover its telescopes and coronographs, well as its panoramic terraces and the Pic du Midi historical and astronomical museum. There is also a traditional high altitude restaurant and a souvenir shop. Access is by cable car from La Mongie, at the foot of the famous Col du Tourmalet.

The purity of the Pyrenean night, the most beautiful and largest in the world, no longer needs to be checked, as since December 2013, it is protected by The International Dark Sky Reserve (RICE), The Peak du Midi offers organised evening visits during which you can immerse yourself amidst the Milky Way and the universe. t is also possible to only attend the starry evening part of the evening (visits and stargazing).

THE MUSEUM VISIT

THE SKY PONTOON

Suspended above the void below, a 12 m long metal walkway, at the end is a glass floor with a unique and giddy view of the clouds below. Endless thrills! Admire the exceptional view.

Access is via the cable car from La Mongie (40min from Luz via the Col du Tourmalet in summer or 1hr15 from Lourdes in winter).

Take the time to discover Oncet Lake d’Oncet (2254m) as a family.

This lake is located at the foot of the Pic du Midi, close to the Col du Tourmalet. It offers a striking view of the Pic du Midi reflected in the turquoise waters of this unique place.

The2h30 hiking is easy and will allow you to have a good time at altitude. From the Col du Tourmalet car park, take the path that starts from the laces of the road. Leave the trail on your left and follow straight to a new junction. Take a right to follow the gradual climb. You will reach the lake while continuing straight!

A striking view of the peak and its observatory is waiting for you. The flocks of sheep and llamas will liven up the end of your walk.

Please note that from 8/07 to 1/11/2024, access on foot to the Pic du Midi is prohibited due to works at the Laquets hostel.
